Korea's Fair Trade Commission opens its first direct sales consent decision, for Unicity Korea

On October 21, South Korea's Fair Trade Commission opened consent decision proceedings for Unicity Korea over allegations that bonuses paid from its U.S. headquarters pushed it past Korea's legal cap of 35% of sales. The commission said opening the process is no finding that any law was broken. Unicity Korea's proposed fixes include re-registering those distributors in Korea and extending its product return period from 20 days to three months.

Regulators outside the U.S. are looking closely at how compensation plans pay out across borders. If you sponsor people in other countries, ask your company how its plan works in each market before you explain it to anyone.

Meta's new terms let it collect data from websites linked to business accounts

PR Daily reported on October 20 that a change to Meta's terms of service, effective October 30, says using business features on its apps means you consent to Meta's web crawlers collecting data from your website. The terms say that content can be used to train AI models, and PR Daily reported there's currently no opt out.

    What this means for you

If you run a business page and link it to your own site or blog, anything you publish there may be collected. Keep private customer details and anything you'd rather keep off AI models away from public pages.

Instagram is removing linked Reels series on October 28

Social Media Today reported that Instagram is removing the option to link Reels into a series, starting October 28. Instagram added the feature in August 2025. The same update added a 'Use as reference' option that keeps another Reel in a small window while you film your response.

    What this means for you

If you built a multi part Reels series with links between episodes, those links are going away. Put part numbers in your captions or pin the series to your profile so people can still find the whole thing.

TikTok adds comment polls and voice comments

Honest Fred reported on October 21 that TikTok creators can now add polls with up to five options under their own videos and set how long they stay open. Voice comments of up to 60 seconds are rolling out for users 18 and older.

    What this means for you

A poll is an easy way to ask your audience what they want to hear about next without filming anything new. Ask about routines and favorites, and keep income and results out of the options.
