For Leaders · The Leaders edition
Monday, October 19, 2026
This is your Leaders edition. Each morning it gives you something to send your team, a coaching move to try, and a post about leading that you can share as yourself. Today is about helping people start the week with one small plan.
Team message
A calm Monday note
Hi team! I'm keeping my week simple: one thing I want to finish and one person I want to check in on. If you'd like to try it too, reply here with your one thing and I'll cheer you on all week. If it's a quiet week for you, that's fine.
Reply to each answer by name. A personal reply means more to people than a general thumbs up.
Make it yours
Use this as a starting point and swap in your own details.
- What is your own one thing this week?
- Does your team talk in a group chat, a text thread, or somewhere else?
One reader’s version: Morning, friends! My one thing this week is finally clearing out the hall closet. Tell me yours below and I'll check on you Thursday. Quiet weeks count too.
Coaching move
Ask before you advise
When someone tells you they feel stuck, ask one question before you offer any fix: "What would make this week feel good to you?"
Then help them choose a single step that fits their answer. People keep plans they picked themselves much longer than plans we hand them.
Write their answer down so you can ask about it on Friday.

- Who on your team has been quiet lately?
- How would you phrase that question in your own words?
One reader’s version: I texted Marisol, "No pressure at all, but what would make this a good week for you?" She said one post and coffee with a neighbor, so that's the plan we made.

What I ask on Mondays
Every Monday I ask the people I work with one question: what would make this week a good one for you?
The answers always surprise me. One friend said finishing a puzzle with her kids. Another said calling her sister back.
I've learned a good week looks different for everyone, and my first job is to listen.
So I'll ask you too. What would make this week a good one?
Share it on your own page. It shows how you lead without talking about your business.

- What do you really ask your team at the start of the week?
- What answer surprised you lately?
One reader’s version: On Mondays I ask my group one thing: what would make this week feel good? Last week Tina said unpacking the last moving box. I loved that. What's yours?
Tomorrow: a short practice that helps your team talk about what they use in plain, everyday words.
